When a component is in a Change Order, can I still make another change?
Depending on the current status of the Change Order, your available options are:
- Draft: You can make any changes to the component as you need. A warning banner on the component will let you know the changes could impact the intention and validations of the Change Order, but there is no restriction.
-
Open: The current resolution value impacts what action you can take:
- Unresolved: No changes are permitted to a component.
- Rejected: You must select the edit option in the Change Order, which will only allow you to add/remove products and components to a Change Order. You can not make direct changes to a product or component.
How do you edit an open Change Order that has been pushed past draft mode?
Start by rejecting the Change Order then you can edit it in order to make changes to it. Rejecting makes a clear delineation that the original package was not "correct" and requires a change. Once the Change Order is back in edit mode, you can add or remove components as needed. If a change is needed to a component, you can remove it from the Change Order, make the necessary changes, and then add it back. Once all changes to the components are completed, you can re-submit the original ECO for approval.
The steps in the process to modify a product or component in an open Change Order are as follows:
- Reject the open Change Order.
- Select Edit.
- Remove the product or component from the Change Order.
- Select Save Draft.
- Make the necessary edits to the now-removed product or component.
- In the original Change Order, select Edit.
- Add back the product or component.
- Select Submit for Approval.
What is the Finalizing stage of a Change Order, and how do I push it to product?
In the Finalizing stage of a Change Order, the export package is generated, and a revision snapshot of components and products added to the Change Order is created. Finalizing is only used to ensure CAD changes have been completed in another tool (e.g., Onshape, SWX). Once any Change Order has been approved, no modifications to the contents of CO are allowed in Duro.
Occasionally, exports take longer than necessary in the Finalizing stage and need to be manually redirected. If your Change Order shows a status of Finalizing, please follow the below directions to push the Change Order back to draft state and resubmit:
-
Open the Change Order in question.
-
Reject it in order to push it back to the author.
- Reassign the approvers for the Change Order through the following steps:
- Click on the Approver List.
- To add users to a template, select the individuals you want to be added to the Change Order by clicking the checkmark box to the left of their names and clicking Add at the top of the list.
- Click on the Save template icon located to the right of the drop-down menu.
- This will prompt you to name the template and, if not already completed, set its privacy.
-
Click on Submit for Approval, pictured below.
- Once approved, all the approvers and notifiers will get the approval emails, and that Change Order will get resolved to approved status.
Can I update the status of child components in bulk when submitting a Change Order?
Yes. Duro not only possesses the ability to individually toggle and modify states of specific parts (including their child components) during the process of entering parts into an ECO, but it also allows for the efficient selection and simultaneous modification of all subordinate components at lower states. To bulk-select child components of a Change Order, please follow the steps below:
- Navigate to your ECO.
- Mark the box to Include all children's components.
- Select all children components from the Assembly Table.
- Click on the Update Status button in the toolbar of the Assembly Table.
- This will populate the "Confirm Status Change" module. From the Bulk Actions dropdown list, select the desired lifecycle status.
- Click Apply to bulk update the status of all children components.
- Click Continue.
- Submit the ECO.
- Approve the ECO.
How do I view comments made on Change Orders?
If you've ever submitted a Change Order and desired quick access to comments made during its approval, rejection, or closure, this process is designed to streamline your navigation.
To view Change Order comments, follow the below steps:
- Login to your Duro account.
- Navigate to the Change Order in question via any of the following methods:
- From the Change Order tab in the left navigation
- From your dashboard
- By utilizing the search bar
- From the Revision History Table
- Click on the History Tab.
- Comments made during approval, rejection, and closure are located in the last column of the table.
My comment is cut off in the History Tab. How do I view it?
For your convenience, scroll horizontally to the right to view the entirety of each comment within the History Tab. To expand the Comments column of the table in your Change Order’s History Tab, click on Autofit. This button is located in the toolbar above the table header, directly to the left of the Settings icon. The Autofit function will automatically widen the table to the width of the entire comment.
Why don’t I see my Change Order comments in the Details of my Revision History Table?
The Revision History Table, pictured below, can be found through the Toolbar of a product or component page and offers a snapshot view of all associated Change Orders. The Details column displays the name of the Change Order only, not any comments made on it. Clicking on the hyperlinked ECO number transports you to the Change Order page, from which you can view comments under the History Tab. The ECO number can be found in the Type column of the Revision History Table. Additionally, ECOs shown in red have been rejected, whereas ECOs shown in green text have been approved.
For more information on how to utilize the Revision History table, please visit our article Compare Revisions.
Note: Since Change Orders are not permitted in the Design Lifecycle Stage, a hyphen “-” will appear in the Details and Revision columns. Additionally, “Modified” will be shown in the Type column.
What does the "Last Release" column, as shown in my Change Order, represent?
The "Last Release" column in an Engineering Change Order (ECO) reveals the lifecycle status and revision value of the item in question at the time of the last submitted Change Order in which the Component Part Number (CPN) was involved. Additionally, a direct link to the ECO can be accessed via the item's Revision History Table. It's important to acknowledge that the current lifecycle status and revision number of the component or product may diverge from what is indicated in this column if modifications have been introduced since the last Change Order submission.
