SolidWorks Rename Files to CPN

Overview

This article details the option companies have to automatically rename files to the pulled CPN instead of retaining the original file name.

Step by Step Instructions 

WARNING: This is a company wide setting. Therefore, all users must re-install the plugin once the update is made.

1. Confirm this is the best option for your whole team by reviewing the Setting Details section of this article below.
2. Submit a ticket through our ticketing system and reference this KBA article. Request this company wide setting is applied so files are renamed with the CPN. 
   1. OPTIONAL: Request generated supporting documentation uses the CPN instead of the original file name.
3. Receive an updated SolidWorks Duro plugin installer
4. Uninstall the current plugin
5. Delete the installation files for the previous plugin
6. Close out of SolidWorks completely - confirm through your task manager there aren't lingering instances of the application. Restarting the computer is the best option.
7. Download the new installer
8. Unzip the new installer folder
9. Launch the installer from the unzipped folder and compete the installation steps
10. Restart the computer
11. Open SolidWorks and pull a part number on a new test file to confirm the update.

Setting Details

Summary

When this setting is enabled, the SolidWorks file name will automatically be replaced with the new CPN when a part number is pulled using the Duro CAD integration.

The Duro name field will continue to display the original file explorer name:

NOTE: if the setting to map CAD configurations to components is enabled, the file name will be re-written to the Default configuration's DuroCpn value when that's pulled. 

In the example images below, the CPN for the 'Default' configuration "123-00002" replaced the file name instead of the 'Config 3:...'s "123-00003" CPN value:
