Overview
This article details the option companies have to change the default connection between CAD files and Duro components. By default, Duro only allows each individual CAD file to be linked to an individual component in Duro. The change allows SolidWorks configurations to have a 1 to 1 connection with components in Duro.
Step by Step Instructions
WARNING: This is a company wide setting. Therefore, all users must re-install the plugin once the update is made.
- Confirm this is the best option for your whole team by reviewing the Setting Details section of this article below.
- Submit a ticket through our ticketing system and reference this KBA article. Request that this company wide setting is applied so your configurations have a 1 to 1 connection to components in Duro going forward.
- Receive an updated SolidWorks Duro plugin installer
- Uninstall the current plugin
- Delete the installation files for the previous plugin
- Close out of SolidWorks completely - confirm through your task manager there aren't lingering instances of the application. Restarting the computer is the best option.
- Download the new installer
- Unzip the new installer folder
- Launch the installer from the unzipped folder and compete the installation steps
- Restart the computer
- Open SolidWorks and verify the updated plugin writes to the Configuration properties when a new file is linked to a Duro component
Setting Details
Summary - This setting update changes the following:
- Duro Properties will be moved from the SolidWorks Properties 'Custom' tab to the 'Configuration Properties' tab.
- Duro Properties will be configuration specific instead of file specific. This means, each configuration will be linked to a separate component in Duro and revision controlled separately.
- These components can be set up as variants of each other through the Duro platform
-
Going forward, the Duro flyout will display Duro Properties associated with the active configuration only. NOTE, if a configuration is not linked to a Duro component the Duro flyout will have a placeholder CPN value.
SoildWorks Properties Table
DEFAULT:
Each individual file has properties written to the Custom Properties table. This mean a single CPN and set of Duro variables are linked to a file when the part number is pulled or a link established with a Component in Duro.
SETTINGS ENABLED:
Duro properties are moved to the 'Configuration Properties' tab and are associated with the configuration that was active when the part number was pulled. For example, the file below has 3 configurations. A CPN was pulled using the Duro plugin for the "Default" configuration as well as "Config 3:...". Each has a separate CPN and set of Duro variables. "Config 2:..." does not have Duro properties because a part number wasn't pulled for it.
