Objective: To teach SolidWorks users how to suppress and unsuppress parts in the Duro plugin.
Difficulty: Easy
In this article:
This article provides an overview of the functionality of suppressing and unsuppressing parts using the Duro plugin for SolidWorks, as well as guidance on how to perform each. Please reference SolidWorks’ help documentation for more information on how SolidWorks handles suppressed components
In the Duro plugin for SolidWorks, suppressing a part temporarily removes it from the model without actually deleting it. Suppressed parts are hidden from and inaccessible within the model's immediate workspace, yet can be retrieved for future use.
When you suppress a part, it disappears from the model's view and its name appears grayed out in the FeatureManager design tree. Suppressing removes its impact on calculations, mates, and other assembly relationships. All the connections and dependencies related to that part (mates, assembly features, etc.) also get temporarily suspended. This means the suppressed part won't affect mass properties, won't appear in your Bill of Materials (BOM), and won't be considered in functions like collision detection. However, suppressed parts do still exist within the project; they'll be included in a 'Pack and Go' and will show up if you look for missing references.
Overview
