Objective: To learn how to use item numbers to manage and filter BOMs for organization and efficiency.
Difficulty: Easy
In this article:
With Duro, you can reorganize your assembly tables by item number to match its appearance within your BOM. Enable matching sequences, eliminate BOM confusion, and crystalize communication channels between platforms through a simple filter change in your toolbar.
Overview
Item numbers help unify component arrangement between drawings, BOMs, and assembly tables. To align all three, your Duro assembly tables ideally reflect the same item number placement as shown within their coordinating BOMs. Since item numbers are generated in CAD systems, imported into Duro, and then passed onto ERP and MRP systems, there's potential for these integers to upload or import out of order. Luckily, the solution couldn't be easier. Shuffling the sequence of your components' item numbers to be sequential takes less than 10 seconds and immediately aligns the structure between your Duro assembly and your BOM.
Although Duro doesn’t dictate how our users should use item numbers, we encourage everyone to structure them identically between all platforms to simplify communication between team members when sharing designs. There are also no restrictions on the types of assemblies that utilize item numbers, nor on the components to which they're assigned.
How to sort an assembly table by line number
Please follow the directions below to organize your assembly table by item number:
- Login to your Duro account.
- Navigate to a product, either from your library, dashboard, or by utilizing the Search Bar.
- Click on the Assembly tab to access the table.
- Ensure you are viewing in Grid View to sort.
- Click on the pencil icon to edit the assembly table.
- Click on the blue triangle in the header of the column titled "Item Number." This will numerically sort values from least to greatest.*
- Optional: click into item number cells to edit existing item numbers or add new values.
- Click SAVE to record your changes.
Note: If you do not see a column titled Item Number within your assembly table, click on the Settings icon in the toolbar directly above the assembly table. Then, select the box for Item Number. This will ensure the category appears within the table.
