Objective: To provide instructions and use cases for disabling the Revision Managed field of select components.
Difficulty: Easy
In this article:
Revisioned managed components
When importing part data into Duro, parts are automatically marked as revisioned managed. While components, by default, are imported as revision-managed, users have the option to switch select electrical and mechanical components (capacitors, resistors, screws, nuts, bolts, etc.) to be non-revisioned, if preferred. Customers may opt for this approach for Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) components or for components where the evolution is controlled by a third party.
Turning off the Revision Managed feature of a component can be useful for overall part data management within Duro. For customers who buy COTS parts with design specifications that are controlled by a 3rd party, managing revisions becomes unnecessary. Removing the option to revision manage such parts simplifies overall part management and saves time on documentation.
The ability to turn off the Revision Managed feature for select components also helps improve the efficiency of the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process. Previously, users faced difficulties releasing ECOs because of lower-level components stuck in the Design status. However, by setting COTS components to "Non-Revision Managed," they are automatically assigned a lifecycle status of Production, streamlining the ECO process and making administrative tasks smoother for engineering teams.
To mark a component as non-revision managed, please follow the directions in the following section.
Note: The activation status of the Revision Managed feature can only be viewed or altered in the Specs tile when editing the component.
Disabling the Revision Managed feature
To unmark a component as revisioned managed, follow the instructions below.
- Login to your Duro account.
- Navigate to a component or product page.
